Slender-billed gull: 1st Winter

This image is from the same series as the previous one posted yesterday. Slender-billed gull. Scientific name: Larus genei.

This is a 1st Winter bird.

Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, Canon EF 400mm f2.8 L IS USM, EF1.4x II, ISO 800, f9, 1/1600, full frame image.

I was handholding and it flew straight towards me and the wing tips got cut.

Nice light. The sharpness is nice. Wish there was a bit more headturn so that the eye would have had been illuminated. Too bad abt the clipped wings but handholding a lens the size of yours I'm sure is no easy job. Great control on the whites here. Thanks for sharing.
