Nice pose and eye contact. It is good that the eye is in light. You could have placed the bird a bit more to the left. Did you try a vertical composition? Thanks for sharing.

Nice image, the shutter speed is low especially when the bird is trying to open the wings. Agree with Mrudul on the comments
