I have photographed this Crested Serpent Eagle in Bandhavgarh National Park.

Canon EOS 40D, Canon EF 400mm f2.8 L IS USM, EF 1.4xII, ISO 400, aperture f5.6, Shutter Speed 1/500 sec. Full frame image.

Awesome shot...it is full frame, you can crop it littlebit more for closeup shot to make it more intresting and showing more details....

Great one! Even with a 400mm lens, you may have needed to get very close to the eagle for that shot

I used a 400mm lens with a 1.4x converter. So the focal length was 560mm. Since I was using a 40D camera which has a smaller sensor than a full frame 35mm camera, the crop factor is 1.6. So the focal length is multiplied 1.6 times. So the effective focal length that I was using was 896mm.

We never could dream of such a focal length during the film days.

Nice portrait, the open beak makes it work. The shadow on the eye is bothersome, but we don't have complete control in wildlife photography.

impressive...very detailed.

I think shadow on the eye gives 3D appearance and eye is looking more sharp & glossy, isn't it?
