Vanellus cinereus
Photographed in Mangalajodi, chilika lake, Odisha.

Not a great shot by any means. The light was from the side and I was not enjoying it, as the eye facing towards me was in the shade. The boatman was rowing slowly towards the bird. I wanted to see how close I can go.

When I was this close, there was no point in lowering the lens, as the legs would have got cut. Though I was expecting to go even closer, it didnt happen, as the fellow ran off.

Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, Canon EF 400mm f2.8 L IS USM, EF 2xII, ISO 800, f5.6, 1/2000, full frame image.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

Nice eye contact and clean background. The low angle is nice. Agree about the light, wish it was from behind you. Thanks for sharing.

Lovely clarity here! Do you have a frame with the complete bird in view?

The eye contact is nice. A 1.4x TC might have been better here. I like the out of focus grass in front of its head. Thanks for sharing.

Tushar,
I had posted one full body image earlier. Grey headed lapwing - Indiawilds: Land of the Tiger. Conservation, Wildlife Photography, Communities (http://www.indiawilds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5512)

I have a few images with similar compositions. Wish the light was better.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi
