Composition wise I it would have been better if there was more space at the top than at the bottom. Also, slightly more space at the left would have been even better.

Slight head turn would have been great. The focus looks to be slightly ahead. You can check the focus point by opening the raw file in zoombrowser or in Digital Photo Professional (DPP).

Ranganatittu bird sanctuary

Lovely sighting, I had not sighted a hornbill in Ranganathittu before. The perch is nice. Agree with the above comments. Seems the focus is locked on the branch ahead, do check. How is the sighting there? Thanks for sharing.

The composition looks nice. I would have although liked more space on the top.
The blurring around the branches seems a bit abrupt. Did you additionally blur the background?

The focus looks to have locked slightly ahead. The 50-500mm by no means is light. It might help to use a monopod/tripod while shooting birds and a bean bag while shooting from jeeps during safari:)

A nice sighting, no doubt. I haven't seen a hornbill at RBS yet:(
