Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve.

It saw a deer and immediately jerked itself into a half crouching pose.

Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, Canon EF 400mm f2.8 L IS USM, EF 2xII, ISO 5000, f6.3, 1/500, full frame image.

Look forward to your comments and critiques.

Very well done Sabyasachi. I like the details and the image appears sharp. However, there is something that prevents me from falling in love with the image..may be the light falling on the area below the head resulting in slight over exposure. May be, selectivelyreducing the brightness/exposure on that part will sort the issue:)

Bhargava,
I had preferred to increase the highlights here, by going against the rule.

The other aspect of why this doesn't look like my normal compositions is that, I prefer to have lot of space in the direction the subject is moving. In this case, I wanted the tree at the top left corner, so the tiger is near the top & middle of the frame and looking to the right. So one may feel that there is not much space at the right. It was an instantaneous decision to create this composition with a bit of tension.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

Excellent image. The pose and mood are great. the foreground with the vegetation gives a sense of depth to the image. I liked the direct light on the tigers face , in front and the dabbled light around.

Wud be nice if you can post a version with a slight pullback on the levels (i dont know that is the right word) and increasing the contrast a bit........ just that im so used to rainforests that I like the "dark shaded " look of the forest with of course the tiger standing out in direct light.
