The number 1706 was the reason for much happiness this week, but I am afraid it has to be taken with a pich of salt!
According to reports, the increase in tiger population has occured not only due to the 'actual increase', but also (majorly) becasue of conducting
the tiger census in areas that were excluded earlier- like the sunderbans and other naxal affected areas of Bihar and Orissa.
Still, there was an increase- whatever the number. That's something to cheer for. This image symbolises how the tiger took an upward slope (increse in their numbers, of course)..
but at the same time, we or the tigers do not know what lies ahead! So, continued tiger conservation or rather tiger habitat conservation is the only way forward:)
I would love to know your thoughts on this..

Increasing the brightness and contrast would be better. From this angle, if the tiger would have been facing you then the image would have been great. You can view this for tiger census details: Tiger Census - population rises to 1706 in 2010: Census - Indiawilds: Land of the Tiger. One way this composition works, telling us that the tiger is going away, and we need to make tiger conservation work. Wish, the light was better, so a narrower aperture would have got more details near the head. Agree about increasing the contrast a bit. Thanks for sharing.
