The blue sky is nice. Ideally, all the space from the right side of the bird can be shifted in the direction where the bird is looking..that is while making the picture in the field itself. This space on the right may be considered negative space as it doesn't add to the composition. Also, the face of the bird doesn't seem to be in good focus...or is it shake? By the way, what is the lens you use? Also, if you got a shutter speed of 1/4000sec, you shouldn't have used IS) 800. Shooting at low ISO's like 200 will be best on the 1000D:)

Nice image. I agree with Bhargava about the space on the right and a lesser ISO. Mostly flight images would require a higher shutter speed of 1/2000 and above. Using ISO 800 can induce noise, so it is advisable to use lower ISO in most cases. A vertical composition would have been good as it would have helped to avoid the bird on the right and also the legs would have been included in full. Thanks for sharing.

I agree with Bhargava and Mrudul's comments. More space at left would have been better. Since the bird on right is obstructed by vegetation, it is better to compose the image without it.
