[Mrudul Godbole]

Photographed at KGudi. My first sighting of this species :). From the same series as posted by Sabyasachi earlier. Tried a wider composition with 250mm.

Canon 50D, 100-400mm L IS USM, ISO 500, 1/8, f6.3, 250 mm, hand held, full frame.

Lovely sighting Mrudul. I am amazed that at 1/8 sec, you managed to get a sharp shot:thumbup1:. What's the secret? This is an exceptional image, looking forward to more from the trip.

This is nice. Shows the habitat well. It was cloudy and the colour temperature that I was getting was about 5050 K. It seems the colour temperature has been slightly increased here, probably to daylight ie. 5500k if not higher?

It is good that you got it sharp even at such low shutter speed. This shows with proper technique even on a bad day you can get a few sharp images.

Nice and sharp. Would love to know how you made this possible at 1/8sec..Also, any specific reason for using f6.3 and not f5.6 to get a marginally better shutter speed? because, it seems like much DoF was not needed..

I like the composition.Indeed sharp for the SS. well done.

Looks like the Asian Palm civet or common palm civet-Paradoxurus hermaphroditus . Tough to get them in daylight. I have seen them many times in the night. They seem to to be adapting well to urban areas as well.

Bhargava, first I clicked a few images with f5.6, and with the shutter speed so low I was not very sure I would get any sharp images, so thought of giving it a try to get a bit more details by using f6.3. Since we were quite close to it and it was sitting, I could do some experimenting :). Thanks for the comment.
