Check this out, perhaps the best piece of visual documentation of the Indian cheetah:

Wonder if our plains will ever have these beautiful cats running after our blackbucks again...

a beautiful clipping, though also quite disturbing.... let the cheetahs hunt freely for which nature has equipped it well with speed/stealth and agility...
not tamed and blindfolded to be let loose when there is a crowd of game in sight.....
What was happening as far back in 1939 has led to this near total annihilation of the entire cat species now....

Wow, i am stunned at the great photography, given that it was in 1939!!!

Akbar had 5000 cheetahs that he used for hunting. Unfortunately, we don't have those huge plains where blackbucks can roam again and thousands of cheetahs chasing them.

There was an interesting project conceived to bring Asiatic Cheetah from Iran and do cloning. However, Iran refuse permission to lend their cheetahs. So cheetahs will never roam our plains again.
