Mirchani Cub closeup

[Mrudul Godbole]

This was photographed in Bandhavgarh. She is one of the Mirchani cubs. She was peacefully sitting 5 feet away from our gypsy. As the park closing time was near all the other gyspy's had left. She was so close for my 100-400 that I tried to take some close-up. The only problem was the light as she was sitting against the light. Let me know what you think of this b/w composition.

Canon 50D, 100-400mm L IS USM, ISO 400, 1/160, f6.3, hand held, full frame.

Wow! lovely close-up, the b/w treatment works well. I understand that the shooting conditions were tough with subject against light. Did you try giving -Ve EC

I remember this scene. The light was very nice and the tiger was pretty close. A vertical would have also worked well. The shadow side including eyes have come out well.
