Eye contact is good. You are nearly there. Just that it is a bit soft. You can check your focus point by opening the raw file in Zoom browser or Digital Photo Professional.

Try moving the focus ring with the left hand fingers. That would help in getting critical focus faster.

The eye contact is nice. I agree with the above comments. You can also try using all AF points selected mode while photographing birds in flight. A higher shutter speed would have been good. Thanks for sharing.

F 5.6, ISO 400 would have given you atleast 1/2000 SS....Lovely effort!!!
