Shot at shamirpet lake- hyderabad, on Sunday.

f5.6, 1/320sec, ISO 400, EV +0.3, 400mm

canon 60D, canon 100-400 L IS

Tried shooting with lesser space at the top and including its tail in full but the Bg was more cluttered and also even at f8, the tail wouldn't be in focus:(

The composition is nice. A slight head turn towards you would have enhanced the eye contact further. Getting the whole tail in focus is quite difficult. Did you try other compositions with less space on top, do upload that. Thanks for sharing.

Nice shot. It is tough to compose these shots if one wants to include (with the required DoF) the very long tail :). If that was not possible, I would have gone for a closeup of the forequarters and head.
The smooth BG here looks nice. Try bringing down the highlights on the jaw. A little reduction in sharpness might look good too.
TFS, look forward to the other compositions.

I agree with Mrudul and Abhishek.

It is not easy to get a long tail in the frame and get a pleasing composition. A slight head turn would have been better. The background looks good. At close distances the depth of field is less, so even f8 may not give the required depth of field.
