Dear All,
Spent a delightful few days roaming in Corbett national Park, Pangot and Saattal. Starting the series with the image of a Mammal on a primarily birding trip.
A lone tusker in the Dhilkala Chaur of the Corbett National Park trying to figure out our intentions.

EOS 5D II + 100-400 f4.5-5.6 @ f8, 135mm, ISO 800, 1/400.

Look forward to comments

Cheers

Splendid image. To see a tusker is always special.
We could see edge habitat well. For large mammals, the edge habitats are very ideal.

Dipankar,
Where exactly was this? In buffer area?

Nice to see a tusker. It is sensing your presence. The composition works well with the road leading into the frame. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi

Nice environment photograph. the inclusion of the mountain in the background frames the image nicely. The raised truck adds interest. Nicely captured. Look forward to more. Thanks for sharing.

Dear Sabyasachi,
This is from the Chaur in the heart of the Corbett national Park. We managed a single night reservation in the much sought after DHIKALA FRH of the CTR. The Chaur is a very large expanse of grassland and the ideal habitat for the Elephant and the Deers, specially the Hog deer.
This was early morning at around 6:00 AM when the elephants after frolicking all night in the Ramganga and foraging to the hearts content were gradually dispersing into the shaded forest in the fringes.
I borrowed the 100-400 and 5D II specifically for getting environmental shots of the large mammal and it worked out pretty well.
Cheers
