Can you throw some light on your processing?

The image would have looked even better if the shadow would not have been there on the underside of the leaf. Since you were using a flash, placing a reflective surface - if available - to open up the shadow areas would have been great.

thanks...i don't understand the query, there is hardly any processing. use of flash has thrown everything in the background into dark. i did nothing except cropping and sharpening. also i thought the shadow on leaf under the subject delineates it better.

The outline of the snail looks very sharp - kind of cut and paste. So I wanted to know if it is due to creating multiple layers etc in photoshop.

From me angle is nice but also agree with Sabyasachi comment.. You can also tone down white spots on body and shell due to flash..Is it Garlic glass snail..??

Nice perspective. I feel a slightly looser crop will work better here. Not sure how one can avoid the highlights due to flash, with a subject as moist as this :).
