This picture has been taken, when bird has come for drinking water. Image is cropped and bg is blurred in Photoshop to remove distracting spots.
Canon EOS 550D, 100-400mm IS USM.
Av mode,F:7.1.1/500,ISO:400,Spot metering, White balance: Auto. Hand held.
Exposure bias: +0.3 stop.

Nice looking bird. The image appears to be slightly oversharpened to me. Good that you mentioned that BG blurring has been done; personally, I avoid doing it. It is always better to keep experimenting with angles/position from which you shoot the bird over a period of time rather than rely on digital tools. In this image, the blur amount seems to be quite a lot seeing the artifacts.

Lovely bird. The perch and the eye contact is nice. I agree reducing the amount of sharpening done would be good. Also a proportional crop would look good. Please do post the original without the cloning. Thanks for sharing.
