This is first trial image taken with Kenko pro 1.4 300 DG coupled with canon 400mm,5.6....this is handheld shot..i am not very much happy with it, but somehow it is much better than images taken with manfrotto 055 and 804rc2..i think manual focusing is rather difficult with small viewfinder. any opinions?..does anybody know how to regain at least focus confirmation beep? (i have tried pin-taping, didn't work)..

I am not sure why the sharpness is less here. The combination becomes f8, so it can only Autofocus with a 1 Series camera. Taping the pins helps a bit. I agree with you that focusing manually would be difficult at low light in the small view finder, as the combo is f8. Try live view for focusing.

Hi Jitendra,

I have tried manual focusing using the viewfinder with 600D and 55-250mm. You get red AF point beep in manual focus, I guess focus is confirmed then. Will check again if you can get focus confirmation beep.

I think it should work for 550D as well.

Did you set the diopter before you manually focused?

Hi Jitendra,

You do get focus confirmation beep in manual focus. Just tried it.

Set the diopter to adjust your eyesight to the viewfinder and focus to get the sharpest image you see in the viewfinder, press the shutter half-way and you get focus confirmation beep.

Hope this helps.
