Hi Guys,

Need ID of this bird.

Shot this one in Pune. I should have reduced ISO to 200 and shutter speed accordingly. But realized it latter.

Please critique.

Manual Exposure
Spot metering
Shutter Speed 1/800
Aperture 8.0

The eye contact is nice. Nice clean background. I am fine with the ISO and the shutter speed, don't think you had to reduce it. The web adds to the composition. I think there is some loss of details, maybe due to the crop. Wish the perch was natural. Thanks for sharing.

I tend to agree with Mrudul about ISO but ultimately, it is the person who is shooting who has to understand upto what shutter speeds one can handhold comfortably to get a sharp picture. Also, for skittish birds like this ashy prinia or tailor bird, high shutter speeds are desirable. If The subject is stationary, then with some practice, one could handhold a not so heavy lens even at 1/60 sec or lesser.

Thanks guys.

The perch is natural. It's a stick coming out from the grass.

Nice image Atul, this is Ashy Prinia. I am fine with the settings, however you could have tried giving a -EC to ensure that the whites don't over-expose. I feel you may be able to still recover in PP.

I agree that a negative exposure compensation would have helped in containing the whites. The cobweb looks nice. Thanks for sharing.
