Faint proof of a fight with another cat can be seen on this leopard (just above and under the ear).
going by some of the more recent sightings of ths guy, he is now healthy and bold :)

Nice Photograph, Law of the Jungle well documented. Good News that injury has healed and the Leopard is in its full glory .Its a very good News for me, in particular as far as Wild Life is concerned ,as the Day began with the News that A Tiger of The Sundarbans TR after being attacked by a Estuarine Crocodile(may be a Shark also )while swimming across a creek could not save itself despite reaching the other side. The same Law of The Jungle. Thanks for sharing. SaktiWild

That is the way of the jungle. However, there is no wanton killing. There is no killing for fun. It is said that at times an inexperienced tiger, may kill more than one cow from a herd.

There are reports of Tiger swimming as far as 30kms in Sundarbans. So if a tiger is killed by an estuarine crocodile (Crocodylus porusus), then it perhaps would be the first recorded case.

Kailash Sankhala has mentioned in his book that once he saw a tiger was crossing the Chambal river. A crocodile attacked it (Crocodylus palustris). The tiger kept on swimming and when he came close to the shore, turned and killed the crocodile and then went away. Will check his exact words later.

There are also reports from Ranthambhore where tigers have been known to kill marsh crocodiles (crocodylus palustris).

Wonderful capture Bhargava, very well documented. The head turn displaying the injuries and the eye contact makes the image special for me.

Thanks for sharing.
