Finally posting a photo after a very long time...
Spotted this hyacinth flower at Khadi, a place in Dombivli

The flower looks nice. Just that this species chokes our waterbodies. One of the reason for its growth is eutrophication ie. enrichment of the waterbody with excess nutrients like nitrates and phosphates. Sewage discharge is one of the primary reasons.

Nice shot. The BG is a wall? This species is an invasive exotic from South America. It spreads due to eutrophication, as Sabyasachi has mentioned, and chokes out the native vegetation and animal life. Interestingly though, Purple Swamphens have adapted very well to this plant and are in fact thriving in water bodies infested with Hyacinth.
