The light seems really low! Given the conditions, you have done very well :)

I'm just wondering if it would have been better to move slightly more to the right and shoot..

Quite difficult conditions to photograph. Agree moving a bit more to the right could have helped. Wish the light was better. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks guys for the comments.Moving to right would have brought more tree leaves in front, making it difficult to have a clear focus on the bird.As I have mentioned earlier that these birds, being very shy ,are always found perching in areas surrounded by tree leaves. The bird was there for quite some time and this was the best possible view for photography. Moreover, as the whole bird seems to be covered within DOF, so no idea as how would it help if I had moved to right. Thanks

The image looks dark. Increasing the overall brightness would be better.

I am presuming that you clicked at the 500mm end and since this is a crop, you were at the limit. Wish the bird would have turned its head slightly for better eye contact to satisfy you. :-)

Wish you had more details in this image. It is difficult to know whether there is less of details due to large crop, low shutter speed, or underexposure. Thanks for sharing.

I agree that these birds are skittish. They will perch in the foliage and as photographers we have to try our best to get the image. Not every time we will get the desired image. The idea is to keep on pushing. The same image would have looked better, if the bird would have turned to our left instead of facing to the right. So we need to keep on trying.

When I was interacting with Ed Kashi of National Geographic, he said that may be one out of 1000 images get printed in the magazine. It can be less as well. So we have to try and I am sure you will get us a great image of this beautiful bird sometime soon. It is always a nice experience to see someone create good images.

Cheers,
