Nice image. The bird looks to be in focus and sharp. I like the diffused BG. I feel that slightly more space at the bottom will enhance the image, but I understand that you intentionally did not do that to avoid the ununatural perch.

Lovely green background. The eye contact and the details are nice. Agree with Bhargava about the perch. Nicely captured. Thanks for sharing.

The background has come out well. Some more details on the head would have been good. Thanks for sharing.

Nice Image. Please Look at Colour from Head to Neck.IN BREEDING, the Head to Neck becomes Plain Buff AS SEEN in this Photograph. Therefore, I agree with Dr.Kakati that it is in Breeding Plumage. Thanks for sharing.SaktiWild

Have to disagree Sir. Pond herons in breeding plumage I have seen have a Purple to chestnut brown back. A uniform Pale brown on the head, breast and neck, sometimes pale yellow on the breast. A little Blue green at the base of the bill and also longish neck feathers which look like plumes. The streaking on the neck is almost always replaced by a uniform pale brown.
Plumage do differ across geographical limits and birds in transformation can have a mix of both the plumages.
