Apperas to be a Black-bresated Weaver- Ploceus benghalensis. A Lovely Image.

Cute bird. Nice perch and eye contact. The composition is fine, maybe a slight lesser space at the bottom would be good. Thanks for sharing.

Nice environmental image. The eye contact is good. My initial impression was a Black-breasted weaver. But it doesn't have a complete black cheek. So it might be Non-breeding male baya, but I am not sure. Have to check the book properly.
Cheers,

I have rechecked.I am Now of the view that It appears to be BLACK-BREASTED WEAVER MALE(Ploceus Benghalensis)in Breeding Plummage.I erred at my 3.38 P.M posting because I did not take into account that Breeding Season has started in August and this species (also migrates from Pakistan)has been viewed in Chambal Sanctuary.SaktiWild

I think this is a Black breasted Weaver male in Breeding plumage. The following are the points for ID-
Breeding Male
size-about 15 cm.
1)Brilliant golden-yellow crown
2)White throat
3)Black band separates throat from fulvous-white underparts

Nice one. Good that you got the bird in the clear, even among the clutter of the tree. Is this a large crop?

I checked the Salim Ali and from the image at a glance one can say that it is Black breasted weaver male. The image is very clear unlike the Pamela C. Rasmussen and John C. Anderton written Birds of South Asia where the image is different.
