Nice pose. Looks like this is a fairly large crop. The primaries and the secondaries have come out well. Wish there was light on the eye. That would have been great. Thanks for sharing.

not a big crop, less sharpness may be because of 500mm focal length of tamron....thanks.

I agree that sharpness is linked with the quality of lens, so if you were using a canon 500mm lens, then the details would have been better. Also, a camera with better sensor would have helped in resolving details better.

My reasoning for the large crop was based on the the wingspan which is entirely covered with depth of field. It is infact a good thing to get the entire wingspan, however, not often we get it due to the limited depth of field associated with our longer telephoto lenses.

If one estimates that the wing span is around 5.5 to 6 feet, then considering that depth of field is a function of distance, sensor size, focal length use and aperture, in this case with 450 camera, 500mm, 7.1 aperture, the bird should be atleast 125 feet for a wingspan of 5 feet.
If the wingspan is 5.95 feet then the subject distance is 135 feet etc etc...

By the way, can someone refer the books and tell us what exactly is the wingspan of a tawny eagle.

Cheers,
Sabyasachi
PS: This is just an effort to throw some light on depth of field and enhance knowledge

Nice sighting. The wingspread is nice. Agree about the loss in details. Thanks for sharing.
