The image is overexposed with the bright sunlit areas losing details. The tree in the back is dark and the difference between the bright sunlight and the dark areas is higher than the dynamic range of the camera. So it is better to create a composition where the difference is less and that will make it pleasing. Thanks for sharing.

Agree with the comments made. Which exposure mode were you using?

While cropping, always better to keep a rectangular (3:2) composition. Avoid square compositions. While composing give a thought about what you want to convey in the image.
