Mountain Squirrel.......Gavi

We saw quite a number of M.Squirrels at Gavi,which is adjacent to the Sabarimala shrine.Most of the tourists who come here are serious about wildlife.......

Why f22 here. Your shutter speed was very less. Some more space at the bottom would have been better as well.

Agree with the above comments. I would have liked a bit more space all around to show more of the habitat. Since it is crop, you can keep the space to make it a nice environment photograph. Thanks for sharing.

I am in agreement with the comments made, f 5.6 would have been ideal that would have ensured a sharp image. Nevertheless these things are bound to happen in photography world, a good sighting at the end:)

Thanks for your views,Sabya,Mrudul and Praveen.I was sitting near the jeep driver and suddently he stopped on seeing this M Squirrel.Before its a goner I clicked sitting there itself leaning over the driver.The camera was in Aper.Prio(Sorry I didn't mention that before) and I got this exposure.I wish I had set the camera in shutter.prio.

Its only a small crop because a leaf was blocking further down the nose of the squirrel(which is visible in the pic).

It was fine that the camera was in Av Mode, just that you could have adjusted the aperture to f5.6 and that would have given you a higher shutter speed.

I guess the dial got shifted to the C mode?

Aperture priority is fine. When I had shifted to digital and was using a Canon EOS 10D camera, in one of the scenes the dial mode had got shifted and led to underexposure.

We all have missed situations. Important thing is the sightings. Those will remain in your memory.

What I was trying to explain was that the camera was in aper.prio with f22(I took the pics of sambar deers which were far off with these setting)and suddently the jeep stopped on seeing this M.sq.I took the opportunity to take a few pics without bothering about the camera settings.After a few shots I got out and as I expected the squirrel climbed higher up on the tree.........
