Its an wonderful gift to Indiawilds by Kaling bhai when it has entered the Fourth year of its journey.Hoolock gibbon is the only ape found in India. Mother and her Child, seen in an well composed photograph taken in its natural habitat. They lead a happy family life with each adult male having a single female consort. Her long hands, her mood, child trying to understand mother's worry,so well documented. Thanks for sharing.SaktiWild.

Thanks for the photograph and information from Sakthiji. It only shows how many different varieties of species we have in our country.I hope all will come to "light"in full glory and details.

Thanks to Kalingji for exposing this pic....

Its nice to see this species. As the face is dark, it is difficult to expose, so giving a +EC would have helped. Nice interaction documented between mother and child. would love to see more of this species. Thanks for sharing.

Two species of Hoolock Gibbons are found in India.Western hoolock (Hoolock hoolock) has wider distribution in 7 NE states including Arunachal and Assam.Eastern Hoolock(Hoolock leuconedys),it was earlier thought, was restricted to Anunachal only.To our delight,in a recent survey Eastern species have been found in three reserve forests of Sadiya sub-division of Tinsukia district(Assam).SaktiWild

P.S:Lighter coat colour of the Female of the Eastern species vis-a-vis Western is the main difference for identification.

Great to see a species which we don't often see. They give vent to an interesting call. They get irritated if you try to imitate their call and will raise their pitch and continue calling. Thanks for sharing.

Cheers,
