Nice image. The perch is interesting :D I am thinking if it would have been better to compose by moving the camera slightly below..that may have given you a fully green BG as well. Also, seeing the high shutter speed, you could have gone to f11 to get more DoF to get the birds in better focus :)

I agree that moving closer or waiting for the bovine friend to come closer with the birds on its back would have helped.
