This was shot in Mangalajodi last week. I would have liked more DOF but I hadn't anticipated this frame with both included and was preparing for a single duck take off frame.

Good attempt. Clicking a moment earlier to get the 2 birds closer to each other would have improved the composition, also allowing more space at the top. What is the blue OOF patch?
If I may compare the two images, then I feel the earlier one was much better.

I agree with your composition suggestions. The Blue Out of focus blob would be a Purple Moorhen.
