Nice image Dr.Kakati. The focus area seems more towards the center of the image, the body and twig as compared to the head of the bird. can you please share the focal length?

@Praveen: These may be birds chirping in hindi hence the south indian shyness :laugh:

The eye contact is nice. Agree seems the focus point was on the body. It is good to have the focus point on the head. You could have used a narrower aperture to get the body in focus. Thanks for sharing.

These tree pies are fed by tour guides and visitors in ranthambhore and hence they come close. I remember one of our members posting an image clicked with a wide angle lens.

Placing the AF point on the head - if the subject is small in the frame - is a challenge. Since we have no idea about the amount of crop in this image, the best thing that can be done is ensure that the depth of field covers the entire bird either by using a narrow aperture or positioning in such a manner that the long tail, body and head is nearly at an equal distance from the sensor plane.
