Heron... not sure of the ID??

Saw this solitary bird sitting in a branch for quite sometime before it took off. Seems to be a heron but not sure.There was no water body nearby, which made me wonder as to what this bird was doing in a dry place as this. Light was bad as it was early in the morning.

You got it nicely through the branches. Moving a bit more to the left would have been good to avoid the out of focus vertical branch in the foreground. Thanks for sharing.

The branches frame the bird well. If you had a longer lens, then it would have looked great. When in breeding plumage, the birds look great.
