Karan,
Both the 7D and the 5D Mark II are good cameras.

Which lens are you going to use?

The 5D Mark II has a full fame sensor. Where as the 7D sensor is smaller and hence your lens will be effectively increased by 1.6 times due to the 1.6 crop factor. So a 300mm lens will be equivalent to a 300*1.6 = 480mm.

The 7D has a faster burst rate than the 5D II and the auto focus system of 7D is also better.

For landscapes and video shooting I will prefer the 5D Mak II over the 7D.

If you are clicking birds, then I would prefer a 7D.

Tell us more about what you would like to shoot and which lens you want to buy. That will help in the decision making.

Dear all
I have a mail in my inbox about launch of Canon EOS 5D Mark III. I don't know how far the news is authentic. Is EOS 5D Mark III an upgrade of EOS 7D anyway? pl advise. Kaling.

Kaling,
I have posted the details about the new EOS 5D Mark III camera here: Canon Announces EOS 5D Mark III Digital SLR - Indiawilds: Land of the Tiger. Conservation, Wildlife Photography, Communities (http://www.indiawilds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8955)

The EOS 5D Mark III is an upgrade of the EOS 5D Mark II camera. It has the same full frame sensor. The 7D has an APS-C sensor (a 1.6 crop sensor ) and has a faster frame rate. The 5D Mark III is the highest MP digital SLR from Canon and has much better video functionalities.
