This Weekend, I am Trying to take some ants photographs. But I failed to get proper shot with clear ants with details in this body, this white spot Ruined everything because of Built flash.

I have try without flash.. in direct sun light. but same problem, I give another chance with no sun light no flash, take a shot in shadow. take a couple of shots, try different exif setting like( F7 to 16, SS- 125 to 4000), cropped hard but 0 result.

I understand that 100mm macro is not enough for this macro. :bored:

without cropped this small ants images not get much result.. so I am sharing this image of common fire ant or red ant (need proper Id) standing in two legs.
With canon 550D, Canon 100 mm macro
F:5.0
ISO:100
SS:125
Crop hard ,Remove some White spot, BG natural.

You are cropping because the subject is not magnified enough. In this respect the 180mm macro lens is better. With the 100mm macro lens, you can use extension tubes.

Ants are tricky to photograph. You were lucky to have one pose for you.
:001_smile:

Use flash compensation around -1.5 for macros . Try using a flash diffuser .Just wrap some tissue paper around the flash and see if the white spots reduce.
