This is a good image, but the original photo without cropping looks better. Please post camera model and settings too.

I didn't knew that these images were clicked with a S3IS. Had just commented on the previous image thinking you had used an DSLR.

The lens in this camera is equivalent to a 432 mm lens in 35mm format. Anything within the range would be good. Cropping would reduce the quality. So please keep that in mind.

It is tough to keep the focus point on the eye/head of the flamingo. Especially when it is taking off. Remember that when the subject is parallel to the image plane, placing the AF point on the body of the flamingo will also help.
