Preparing for a low light image when both of them decided to come out from the bushes.
AV mode; f 5.6; 1/640; ISO400; 100-400@250; No exposure compensation; WB to Daylight; PS to Portrait.

The image depicts as if the pair goes out hunting.Or, they want to teach vultures on their kill a lesson.Nice pose, lionesses in pair, well composed. It speaks about their behaviour, both focussed on the sole objective.Reasons for overexposure has been explained.I enjoyed my stay in Gir for 4 days when there were only 180 lions and 2 persons in FRH ! Gir has record number of leopards.Wish you have also encountered them. Thanks for sharing.SaktiWild

The lions look very keen on whatever they were intending to do. The intent posture of the two individuals is nice.
Even if at EV 0, the image looks a tad too bright, so reducing the brightness may be better. A difficult image to get the exposure right because a part is in shadow and another in light, but a negative exposure compensation may have resulted in a better looking frame.

Nice to see them walking towards you. Agree the image looks slightly overexposed giving a -ve compensation would be good. Which software are you presently using for PP? Thanks for sharing.

Thanks. I had, for the first time, the pleasure of watching a leopard walk in the bushes and finally crossing the dirt track. Since I knew I was not going to get good images I enjoyed watching them without the camera.

Anand

Anand Babu,
Nice to hear that you had a good time in Gir watching lions and even leopard.
Is this a full frame image or cropped?
Cheers,

P.S.: My posting on 20-03-2012: 09.40 A.M (contd.)
In this image another point I have also noticed that the longer tail tassels, one of the main external features of Asiatic Lion has been distinctly documented for both.
I am so pleased to learn that you have seen leopard also, arguably the most beautiful predator of the Indian Jungles. The conflict between the Lion and the Leopard is mainly over food, but the same between the Tiger and the Leopard is over ideology: territory, command and food.It is purely my view point. Thanks for sharing.SaktiWild
