Just before the plunge!!!!

Saw this white breasted kingfisher hunting a few days back. He first caught a wasp and then a lizard. Everytime this guy would shoot off to get his meal he would perform this ritual of lifting and lowering his tail. More like a pulley action. Then he would finally dash at his prey. Was quite interesting to watch.

Nice behavior observed. I too have seen the movement of the tail. The perch and the eye contact is nice. Wish it was closer for more details. Thanks for sharing.

Nice observation murugan. I have seen some of them sort of bob its head up and down before diving.
