Nice perch and good eye contact. Good you got them both looking in the same direction. Why only 300mm? You could have zoomed in further and tried for an offcentered composition with more space on the left than on the right.

I agree that an off-centred composition would be better. Try using the outer focus points.

The image also appears a bit dark. So some more brightness will be better. Thanks for sharing.
