Side lighting brings out the form well. However, it doesn't bring out details due to the shadows cast on the face. So better to move to a position where the face is light directly. Frontal lighting is the best for getting details in the head.

Nice image of the IBIS. The gap between the beak has come out well largely due to the side angle as Sabyasachi mentioned. The details would have come out better had you got them head on. Thanks for sharing.
