saw this bird in my paddy field last year while wading knee deep in the freshly ploughed mud. it hopped right behind the tractor, picking earth worms. seen in large flocks in my childhood and now seen very very rarely. 7D 100-400mm, f/9, 1/200, iso-100, hand held. C&C pl.

Nicely captured image of the bird Kaling. The slight standing feathers on its head above the beak gives it a local rowdy look :D . Increasing the exposure could have enhanced this image further as there is a slight blur. Thanks for sharing.

P.S.:It has a tuft on head,gives a distinct look.

Nice sighting. The eye contact and the tuft of hair looks nice. A slight higher ISO like 200 would have given more shutter speed to get more details. Surely all these (once) common birds are becoming rare. Thanks for sharing,

I agree that ISO 200 would have been better as it would have doubled the shutter speed to 1/400 and would have resulted in a sharper image. You can open the image in Zoom browser or DPP which came with the camera to see the focus point.
