Lovely pose and nice eye contact. Seems he was quite close. Its good you got the tail in full. The light seems low, was it photographed in the evening? Thanks for sharing.

Nice image.Fine composition. The wild look and mood beautifully captured. This one is fairily large and is gifted with large manes. The Asiatic Lions , E.P.Gee observed, seemed to have less manes on the top of the head and have bigger tail tassels. These two features are clearly visible in your image.

He highlighted other differences after visiting both Kenya and Tanzania and Gir thrice, on which I am not qualified to make any comment but shall post sometime for our members and viewers.
Thanks for sharing.SaktiWild

Nice one. Shooting at an even lower focal length would have given a slightly more pleasing composition, but it was a difference of only 15mm, so is still fine. Perhaps, because of the low shutter speed, the image doesn't look very sharp. With some practice, I have seen friends shoot handheld even at very low shutter speeds. Were you using some support while shooting?
