When the bird is facing towards you, the best composition is with the bird directly looking into the lens ie. no head turns. In this case moving to the side to get one eye in the light would have enhanced the composition.

Did you use a cloudy or shadow white balance while converting?

Thanks a lot. Got your point.. will keep that in mind. this slightly older image.. no i did not change white balance.. played around a bit on hue, saturation, brightness and contrast.

I had seen this bird is seen in the bamboo growth near the boating area in Ranganathittu. I think reducing the saturation a bit would be good. Is this a crop? Thanks for sharing.
