In August 2010 Canon had first announced that it was developing these lenses. Tsunami in Japan derailed the process. Finally the 500mm f4 L IS II USM and 600mm f4 L IS II USM lenses have started shipping in Europe.

You should get the 500mm. And since you are liking your 5D II, better to get the 1D X as well. The Canon EOS 1D X feels good in the hands.

Cheers,

Am I to understand that you have a pre-production 1D X with you and have been playing around with it?

Cheers
