The chase
This is from Nelapattu bird sanctuary. These Moorhen were chasing each other.
Canon EOS 1D Mark II, Canon EF 400mm F2.8 L IS USM, EF 2xII, ISO 800, f8, 1/3200, slight crop from top and front. I am uploading the full frame version as well for you to compare.

Lovely capture, perfectly frozen. I don't really mind the cut off reflections, the action is attention-drawing. The splashes look great. I prefer the full frame version.
P.S. They're not Coots, they're Common (Indian) Moorhens.

Abhishek,
Thanks for the correction. Some water splash on my face and a cup of tea later, I can see better. In fact despite the black appearance of the body against the light, the red in the head and at the top of the legs near the wings, should have told me clearly that they are Indian moorhen Gallinula chloropus.

The upwing position is nice. I like the splash too. Prefer the full frame. Looks like it is showing stages of takeoff.. :)
Thanks for sharing. Waiting to see more...

Beautiful action. The series of water splashes give a nice impact to the image. The details on the wings are also nice. I liked the cropped image better.
