Me & my food
Hi Friends,
I found this situation interesting with a butterfly on its food. Would like to understand the story of this leaf , if some-one has any insight into it. Location : Karnala
EXIF : 550D, Av : 5.6, Tv : 1/125, ISO : 800

Butterflies feed generally on decaying matter and nectar. Was this one laying? (Not sure why it would lay on an almost-destroyed leaf). Did you observe what the butterfly was doing on the plant or how long it perched? What was the time?

Hi Abhishek,
Tx for replying. I don't think it was laying . It perched itself repeatedly on the same spot no. of times & then finally scared off by bunch of school kids on picnic. Maybe as you said it was feeding on this randomly consumed leaf. Nevertheless, it was a nice frame to capture & hop is like by India Wilds community.

It would not be feeding on the leaf, butterflies only take liquid food.

I guess some bird droppings or some such decaying matter might be there on the leaf that was attracting the butterfly. I guess your shutter speed was low, so the image appears soft.
