Black Baza, Thattekad
Balck Baza, Aviceda leuphtesThattekad. The guides had said that this chap would come every morning at 7.22 am and sure enough, at the appointed time he would show up. What a handsome bird, with the crest and the waistcoat!
EOS 40D, 500f4 + 1.4x II converter, ISO 400 on Aperture Priority, Wimberley II on Gitzo Series 3.
Thanks for looking, c & C welcome.

Nice Bird. Wish the distracting branches wern't there... Seems it has a grasshopper in its talons.
-
Sharp. The insect in its talons add to the image.
Look forward to more..

Wow, lovely shot. Looking this bird first time.
It seems to be Green Cicada in its talons and not grasshopper.

Lovely. I don't mind the branches. They are in focus, and since there is no bright highlight on the branches, they dosn't distract me. Would love to photograph this bird.
Today while driving in the morning, I saw two fellows. The beaks were much more white. Looked like this, but I could not slow down in the traffic. It was a very unusual sight. I haven't seen in the last 4 years, so it is difficult for me to believe what I saw.

Lovely shot. Never seen this bird, I've always wanted to.
Don't know whether it's true, but there is a belief that this bird carries an awful smell with it. :)
-
Sabyasachi, there appear to be sight records from Madras.
Abhishek, nothing in Ali-Ripley about a bad smell.
