I've seen a similar thing, but without the transparent wings, but with the furry abdomen tip. Don't know what it is, but it's probably some kind of moth.
You could have used a higher aperture to get more of it in focus.
This seems like a variant of the humming bird moth. you can try at www.insectidentification.org
Yes, it does look like a hummingbird moth.
For sharpness in macro, your film plane (here the plane of the sensor) should be parallel to the parts of the insect you want it focus.

Agree with your suggestions and will try them.
For this, point in my mind was to capture shadow of wing borders too. Also if taken parallel, my cam would come between the subject and sunlight.
first time seeing such insect TFS... lovely capture too :)
