Agree about the mysterious feel. To me it feels like you've " just crawled over a mound and discovered you're face to face with a tiger.":D
I did some random tweaking with the levels, saturation, curves and sharpening.
Do "CRITIQUE" my repost, because I'm just beginning to get the hang of Photoshop.:D

Liked the composition. Would have liked it a bit higher in the frame, to get the full view of the face. The eye says it all.
