Nice to see an image of Khairi. This tigress was hand reared by the legendary Saroj Raj Choudhury. In those days, every household in Odisha and many around the world knew about this tigress. Did you click this near the guest house? Thanks for sharing. Also, if you have some more images of Khairi, then please post. Thanks for sharing.
Cheers,

Thank you for sharing Saktida, this is an incredible image, full of soul and story that started on October 5, 1974.
It is said that twelve Kharia tribals of Similipal brought the two-month old tiger cub to Saroj Raj Chaudhury, an officer of the Indian Forest Service. Who noticed that the cub was famished and confused. His first experience of what was to become his passion in life was angry snarls and scratching claws. But the veteran forester and instinctive lover of wildlife knew how to handle a hungry, angry cub. He imitated the sounds of a mother-tigress. Within minutes, the cubs confidence was firmly anchored in the fostering human.
The tigress used to sleep on the bed with her foster parents on the cot next to her. It is said that Khairi died of sufferings from dog bite. And legendary Saroj Raj Chaudhury soon followed her.
I had read so much about this tigress. Great that you could actually sight and photograph her. Truly an amazing bond. Thanks for sharing. Look forward to more.
Great to see this image.

Lovely picture of the healthy tigress... The picture transports us to the times of Jim Corbett/Kenneth Anderson/others. Thanks for sharing.
