Slender Loris

Dear All,

This slender loris we rescued in bangalore near magadi road , It had accidently enetered the house , and was in balcony.

We rescued and was taken to rehabilitation center for medical examnation,

Slender Loris is nocturnal and arboreal, curling up to sleep by day. It feeds on insects, small vertebrates, birds’ eggs, fruit, shoots and young leaves. The gestation period lasts for 166 to 169 days, and produces one or two young. Male leaves its native area at maturity, and establishes new territories. The female offspring typically stay within its mother’s territory and only leaves when it becomes reproductively active.

We have 2 more females in our rehabilitation centre. so we will make a group and release them in wild .

How this reached magadi road? I am told that these are often hunted by people due to superstition. Such cute creatures, don't know how people think of killing those.

I hope suitable habitat remains for them to breed and multiply.

Sometimes it comes to cities along with the vegetable produce from villages near forest areas. Once this nocturnal primate was quite common to see has become rare.
