Hi,
Shot this in Pune. Was able to get closer on this occasion.
After observing this bird resting on the perch for quite some time was able to capture this moment. Appeared as if it was clearing its throat. Had never seen the tongue of this bird so clearly before.

It seems you got the bird in its regular perch. The eye contact is fine. The tongue looks like a chilli (mirchi). :D thanks for sharing.

The photograph shows most of the features of an Intermediate Egret.The eyes, bill,gape and tongue well documented. However,I am not able to find any feathery aigrettes hanging in the front. Thanks for sharing.SaktiWild
